On the day of his death, Stuart was involved in a verbal dispute with a male neighbor outside his East Monument Street
apartment. During the altercation, the neighbor's girlfriend shot Stuart once, claiming she did so to protect her boyfriend, who was reportedly in a chokehold by Stuart. Despite efforts to resuscitate him, Stuart succumbed to his injuries.
