Patrick Washington, a 23-year-old male of African American ethnicity, tragically died on November 17, 2014, in Lockland, Ohio. He was one of two men who were involved in a double shooting incident. According to reports, Washington and Velar Brown, 32, shot each other during an altercation in the 600 block of West Wyoming Avenue. Emergency crews were called to the scene around 3:15 p.m., and despite efforts to save them, both men were pronounced dead at the scene or shortly after being
transported to the hospital.
The Hamilton County Coroner's Office confirmed that Washington died from a gunshot wound to the chest. Investigators initially looked for the occupants of a white Kia believed to be involved in the shooting, but it was later determined that Washington and Brown shot each other. Court records revealed that Brown had been wanted by police since early September for allegedly stabbing a woman in the leg, while Washington had previously pleaded guilty to a disorderly conduct charge after being found beating a man in the same block earlier in the year.
The tragic incident left the community in shock, and Washington's mother publicly called for an end to the violence, urging people to "kill them with kindness". Despite the efforts of law enforcement, no arrests were made in connection with the deaths of Washington and Brown, as it was determined that they had shot each other.
