On November 26, 2015, Glenn Stepp, a 46-year-old male from Franklin, Ohio, was fatally shot in an alley near 29 Volney Avenue in Franklin Township. Upon arrival, deputies discovered Glenn Stepp with a gunshot wound to the upper body. He was transported to Mount Carmel West Hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries.
Investigators identified 18-year-old Da’Juan Mankins as a suspect in the shooting.
Mankins was described as a 5'10" Black male, weighing 215 pounds, with tattoos on his face, neck, and upper body. Authorities believed that robbery might have been the motive behind the homicide.
On January 8, 2016, with assistance from Columbus Police Department SWAT officers, Mankins was apprehended at a residence on South Richardson Avenue. He was arrested without incident and charged with murder.
Glenn Stepp's death on Thanksgiving Day was a tragic event for the Franklin community. The swift identification and arrest of the suspect provided some measure of resolution for those affected by this senseless act of violence.
