On the night of December 25, 2016, 24-year-old Jeremy Thomas Foxx was found deceased from a gunshot wound in the 5100 block of Montgomery Avenue in Franklin Township, Ohio. Authorities believe his death was connected to an earlier report of shots fired in the 100 block of Montgomery Avenue in Carlisle that same evening. Residents in the area reported hearing gunshots, and a black, older-model Chevrolet single-cab pickup truck with a loud exhaust and possibly missing front windshield was
identified as a vehicle of interest.
Following an investigation, 25-year-old Zackary Lee Wilson surrendered to detectives on December 27, 2016, and was charged with the murder of Jeremy Foxx. Wilson, Foxx, and Foxx's cousin, Allison Moore, had reportedly been on a multi-day methamphetamine binge leading up to the incident. On the night of the shooting, while driving to procure more drugs, Wilson claimed he believed Foxx was reaching for a gun and shot him multiple times before disposing of his body on Montgomery Avenue.
In the aftermath, Wilson and Moore attempted to conceal evidence by burning their clothing and altering the vehicle involved. Moore was later sentenced to three years in prison for tampering with evidence. Wilson was found guilty of multiple charges, including murder and felonious assault, and was sentenced to 20 years to life in prison.
