Tony Ferguson, a 39-year-old male of African American ethnicity from Toledo, OH, tragically passed away on July 12, 2016, at Mercy-St. Vincent Medical Center. His death was reported in several local obituaries, and he was remembered fondly by his family and friends. Tony is survived by his mother, Fannie McDade, his son, Tayvon Gilmer, and his brothers, Rodrick Ferguson Jr. and Steven McDade.
He was also survived by his girlfriend, Stacy Madde.
Regarding the circumstances of his death, Tony Ferguson was murdered. The investigation into his murder led to the arrest of a suspect. George “Big Head” Shawn Humphreys, a 33-year-old resident of Brunswick, Georgia, was apprehended by the United States Marshals Service Fugitive Task Force in Jacksonville, Florida, on January 15, 2025. Humphreys was charged with felony murder, malice murder, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, and possession of a firearm during certain crimes. The McIntosh County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigations Division led the investigation, with assistance from the United States Marshals Service.
The case remains active, and the Sheriff’s Office encourages anyone with additional information to come forward. The arrest of Humphreys is seen as a significant step forward in seeking justice for Tony Ferguson and his family. Sheriff Thornell King emphasized the importance of this arrest and expressed hope that it would provide some measure of reassurance to Tony's family during this difficult time.
