In the early morning hours of a cold December day in 2011, a night out in Detroit for 30-year-old Scott Groat turned into a fatal encounter. A talented tattoo artist from the downriver community of Wyandotte and a doting father to a one-year-old daughter, Groat had been attending a private party at the MGM Grand Detroit with a friend.
