John Madden III, a 24-year-old male from Dayton, Ohio, was tragically shot and killed on November 12, 2016. Madden was outside the AM/PM Mini Market at 2317 Salem Avenue when he was shot in the head and subsequently robbed of his money. The incident occurred during a robbery spree carried out by two suspects, Klone Snowden and Ryshon Steele.
Klone Snowden, aged 20 at the time of the crime, was found guilty of murder, aggravated robbery, and intimidation of a witness.
He was sentenced to 15 years to life in prison. Ryshon Steele, who was 18 years old during the incident, was also convicted of murder, aggravated robbery, felonious assault, and receiving stolen property. Steele received a sentence of 25 years to life in prison.
The suspects, Snowden and Steele, were involved in a series of armed robberies in the Dayton area, targeting victims at gunpoint and committing a carjacking on Sundale Drive near Germantown Street. The investigation revealed that the two men drove around randomly, stopping and robbing people at gunpoint on Kenilworth Avenue, Grand Avenue, Broadway Street, and West Second Street.
The case was prosecuted by the Montgomery County Prosecutor's Office, and both suspects were brought to trial and found guilty of their respective charges. The sentencing of Snowden and Steele brought some measure of justice for the tragic loss of John Madden III.
