Tevius Turner was arrested in Kentucky by U.S. Marshals on a fugitive warrant and was later charged with murder. He was found guilty of murder and received a life sentence with the possibility of parole after 18 years. Turner was also convicted of tampering with evidence and improper handling of a firearm in a motor vehicle. During the trial, Turner apologized to Melody Turner's family, but her mother expressed that the sentence was not harsh enough for the needless death of her daughter.
