Deante Mattocks, a 28-year-old man from Cincinnati, Ohio, tragically lost his life on January 9, 2017. He was fatally shot at Our Daily Bread, a soup kitchen in the Over-the-Rhine neighborhood. The incident occurred early in the morning when Robert Jacobs, a 43-year-old man, entered the facility and began shooting. Mattocks was found dead inside the building, while a woman was seriously injured but survived.
