David Gargrave, a 33-year-old man from Covington, Ohio, tragically died on January 11, 2017, due to an accidental self-inflicted gunshot wound. According to reports, Gargrave was in his apartment at Regency Courts when the incident occurred. He was planning to go target shooting with his brother when the shotgun he was carrying accidentally discharged, striking him.
Despite being transported to Upper Valley Medical Center, he was pronounced dead shortly after arrival.

There were five people in the house at the time, including three adults and two children. The case did not lead to any arrests or suspects, as it was determined to be an accident.
There were no litigations, murder charges, or ongoing investigations related to David Gargrave's death, as it was conclusively ruled as an accident. The Miami County coroner’s office confirmed the cause of death, and the case was closed accordingly.
David Gargrave is remembered fondly by his family and friends, including his two young sons, Caleb and Alexander, and his mother, stepfather, brother, and other relatives. A brief memorial service was held in his honor at True Life Community Church in Troy, Ohio.
