Pamela Hacker, a 47-year-old woman from Cincinnati, OH, tragically died on February 16, 2017, after being shot in the chest at her apartment on Vine Street in North Avondale. She was driven to the University of Cincinnati Medical Center in critical condition but succumbed to her injuries on the way there.
Almost eight months after her death, Marcus Canada, a 30-year-old man, was arrested and charged with her murder.
Canada was held at the Hamilton County Justice Center and faced arraignment for the charges. The Cincinnati Police Department's Homicide Unit continued to investigate the case, seeking any additional information that could aid in the prosecution.
Canada had a history of prior charges, including serving time in 2012 for firing a gun into a home and again in 2015 for firing a gun into the air. In court, Canada pleaded not guilty to the charges of murder and felonious assault. He was also accused of attempting to cover up the crime by getting rid of the clothing and selling the gun used in the shooting.
The case drew significant attention due to the delay in the arrest and the severity of the charges against Canada. The community and law enforcement continued to work together to ensure justice for Pamela Hacker and her family.
