Lamar Shepard, age 17, was killed on February 11, 2012, in Detroit, Michigan. Shepard was found on Fairport Street, having suffered fatal gunshot wounds during what appeared to be a targeted incident. His death was part of a troubling trend of youth violence in Detroit during that time. Authorities had initially offered a reward of up to $2,500 for information leading to an arrest, highlighting the difficulty in gathering credible information from witnesses in many homicide cases in Detroit.
