Kelly Marie Baker Freshour, a 50-year-old woman of Caucasian ethnicity, tragically lost her life on March 30, 2017, in Canton, Ohio. She was killed in a suspected murder-suicide incident at her home in the 500 block of Smith Avenue NW. The incident also claimed the lives of her 20-year-old daughter, Cheyenne Calderon, and her 70-year-old friend, Timothy Keyser.
The suspect in this tragic event was identified as 21-year-old Tres Peterson, who was Calderon's ex-fiancé.
According to police reports, Peterson entered the home through an unlocked door and shot and killed a dog in the kitchen before chasing Calderon through the house, firing shots at her. He then found Freshour and Keyser in a first-floor bedroom and shot them as well. After killing the three victims, Peterson went into the dining room and shot himself.
The incident was reported to have involved approximately 14 shots fired, and Peterson had legally purchased the 9mm gun he used on the same day. A friend of Calderon, Brandon Posey, was in the living room with Calderon's 3-year-old son and managed to escape with the child safely.
The Canton Police Department conducted a thorough investigation into the incident, but since Peterson took his own life, there were no further arrests or litigations related to the case. The community was left in shock and mourning over the sudden and tragic loss of Kelly Freshour, Cheyenne Calderon, and Timothy Keyser.
