On July 16, 2017, Mohamed Abidraman Mead, a 33-year-old Black male, was fatally shot in the common area of an apartment building located at 165 E. 11th Avenue in Columbus, Ohio. The incident occurred around 11:35 p.m., when Columbus Police officers responded to reports of gunshots and people yelling that someone had been shot. Upon arrival, they found Mead suffering from a gunshot wound and immediately transported him to OSU Main Hospital in extremely serious condition.
Despite medical efforts, Mead succumbed to his injuries two days later, on July 18, 2017.
The case remains unsolved, and the Columbus Police Department has classified it as an unsolved homicide. The investigation is ongoing, and authorities have urged anyone with information to come forward to help bring justice to Mead's family. The case is part of the Homicide Cold Case Unit Archive, and the police department continues to seek tips and leads to solve this tragic incident.
