On July 25, 2017, Columbus Police responded to a report of a shooting in the 1600 block of Smith Road on the city's southeast side. Upon arrival at approximately 3:20 p.m., officers discovered James Lundy, a 31-year-old African American male, lying unresponsive in a yard. Emergency medical personnel pronounced him dead at the scene at 3:32 p.m.
