Andrew Day, a 29-year-old male from Fairborn, OH, tragically passed away on March 7, 2018. He was employed at the Hampton Inn and also ran his own photography business. Andrew was born on July 22, 1988, in Kettering and graduated from Tecumseh High School in 2007. He is survived by his wife, Brittany, and their daughter, Eleanor.
Andrew's death occurred during an aggravated robbery at the Hampton Inn where he worked. On the evening of March 7, 2018, two young males, later identified as Michael McLendon and Tavion Garrett, entered the hotel and shot Andrew while he was working behind the counter. The suspects fled the scene in a white late 1990s Buick-style sedan. Andrew succumbed to his injuries at Soin Medical Center in Beavercreek later that night.
The investigation into Andrew's death revealed that McLendon and Garrett were involved in the robbery. McLendon admitted to shooting Andrew and was sentenced to at least 33 years in prison as part of a plea agreement. Garrett was also indicted for murder, aggravated robbery, and kidnapping. Two other individuals, Morgan Klink and Disean Graham, were charged with aggravated robbery and are awaiting sentencing.
