On the early morning of June 7, 2012, Larry Green, a 28-year-old Black male resident of Detroit, Michigan, became the victim of a homicide while parked on the city's east side. The incident occurred approximately at 1:00 a.m. as Green sat inside his vehicle, which was positioned across the street from the C-Note Lounge. The lounge was located on Van Dyke Avenue, situated between Seven Mile Road and East Nevada Street.
While Green remained in his car, an unidentified individual approached
the vehicle. Without warning, the suspect opened fire, discharging multiple rounds into the car. Green was struck by the gunfire and sustained fatal injuries during the ambush. The assailant fled the scene immediately following the shooting, leaving Green to succumb to his wounds.
In the years following the murder, law enforcement and Green’s family continued to search for answers regarding the identity of the shooter. As of early 2019, nearly seven years after the crime, no specific suspects had been publicly named, and no arrests had been made in connection with the case. Authorities and Crime Stoppers have periodically renewed appeals to the public for anonymous tips that might lead to the capture and conviction of the person responsible, but the homicide has remained unsolved with the perpetrator still at large.
