On March 30, 2019, Sylvia McGhee, a 14-year-old girl from Canton, Ohio, was tragically shot and killed near 11th Street SW and Bieyl Court SW. She was found with a gunshot wound to the back of her head and was pronounced dead at the scene. Sylvia was known to her family and friends as a "ray of sunshine," always able to light up a room. She aspired to be a hairstylist and was looking forward to getting her work permit.
