She was found dead in her home along with her husband, Reginald Matthews, who was also 62 years old. The couple was discovered by a relative who then alerted the authorities. Cheryl Matthews' death was reported as a suspected homicide by the Richmond Heights police, while her husband's death was not initially considered a homicide.
