On July 21, 2020, Caleb Luel, a 19-year-old male from Cincinnati, OH, was tragically shot and killed in the Spring Grove Village neighborhood. The incident occurred around 7:30 p.m. when police responded to reports of shots fired in the 700 block of Kings Run Drive. Upon arrival, they found Caleb Luel dead at the scene.
Following the incident, a thorough investigation was launched by the Cincinnati Police Department’s Homicide Unit.
On August 28, 2020, a Hamilton County grand jury indicted two men, Dante Walton and Desean Henderson, both 19 years old, on murder charges in connection with Caleb Luel's death. Walton was charged with murder and two weapons charges, while Henderson faced murder and one weapons charge. Both suspects were taken into custody and held in the Hamilton County Detention Center.
Dante Walton was arrested after a series of events that included stealing a car at gunpoint from a woman who was selling the vehicle on social media. He was found the next day by Springfield Township police after wrecking the stolen car and attempting to flee. Desean Henderson was also arrested and booked on related charges.
The investigation into Caleb Luel's death is ongoing, and the Cincinnati Police Department continues to seek any additional information that may help in solving the case. The community has been deeply affected by this tragic loss, and efforts to bring justice for Caleb Luel are ongoing.
