On August 9, 2020, 24-year-old African American male Ky'Ron Demetrius Lamar Cannady was fatally shot during a family dispute in a Dayton, Ohio apartment. The incident occurred around 11 p.m. in the 1000 block of Salem Avenue. According to Dayton police, the altercation stemmed from an argument over the purchase of a bottle of alcohol.
