Breyana M. Presley, a 33-year-old African American woman from Cleveland, OH, tragically lost her life on December 19, 2020. She was fatally shot while in a car with her two young daughters, aged 12 and 8 months, on Interstate 77 near Harvard Avenue. The alleged shooter, 34-year-old Ellis Wilson, was

According to police reports, Presley and Wilson had been involved in an argument while she was driving, which led to Wilson shooting her multiple times before fleeing the scene. He was later found hiding near the freeway and was arrested. Wilson faced charges of aggravated murder, murder, felonious assault, improperly handling firearms in a motor vehicle, and having weapons under disability.
In November 2021, Ellis Wilson pleaded guilty to the charges and was sentenced to life in prison, with eligibility for parole after 21 years. The court noted that Wilson's history of drug and alcohol abuse played a significant role in the tragic event. The case highlighted the devastating impact of substance abuse and the importance of addressing underlying issues to prevent such tragedies.
