Courtney Michell Kelley, a 26-year-old woman from Columbus, Ohio, tragically passed away on December 23, 2020. Courtney was known for her love of writing music and songs, decorating, coloring, and most importantly, cherishing her family. She is survived by her partner Johnny Dale Caudill, her daughter Kayleigh Dawn Caudill, her sons Bryson Dale Caudill and Ryan Carl Landrigan Jr., her mother Shannon Kelley, her sisters Brittany Leady, Stephanie Kelley, and Cheyenne Mason, her brothers Michael
Leady and Jerry Kelley Jr., and many other family members and friends.
On the night of her death, Courtney was found with a gunshot wound at her home on Dolby Drive in south Columbus. An investigation revealed that she had been involved in an argument earlier that day with 25-year-old William Boyce. Boyce, who was a passenger in a vehicle, is believed to have fired shots into Courtney's home from the passenger seat as the vehicle drove by. Courtney was pronounced dead at the scene at 11:29 p.m. Boyce was arrested by patrol officers and taken into custody. He is currently facing a charge of murder in Franklin County Municipal Court.
The tragic incident marked the 167th homicide in Columbus for the year 2020, making it the deadliest year on record for the city. The community mourns the loss of Courtney Kelley, a young woman whose life was cut short far too soon.
