On August 19, 2021, Demetrius A. Compton, a 25-year-old man from Cleveland, OH, was tragically killed in a drive-by shooting. The incident occurred around 10:30 p.m. near East 153rd Street and Bartlett Avenue. Compton was walking westbound on Bartlett Avenue when a car also traveling westbound fired multiple shots at him. He managed to reach the back porch of a house before collapsing from his injuries. Despite being rushed to University Hospitals, he was pronounced dead at the scene.
