Gary Shanda Lee Walker, a 28-year-old African American man from Cincinnati, OH, tragically died on February 14, 2022. He was affectionately known as "Lil 'G'" to his family and friends. Walker was involved in a fatal shooting incident in North Avondale, Cincinnati. Police responded to a report of a car crash on Dickson Avenue and found Walker dead from a gunshot wound inside the vehicle.
The investigation revealed that Walker had arranged a drug deal with 17-year-old Aiden Brown.
Brown, along with an unidentified accomplice, was seen arriving at and leaving the scene of the shooting. Walker was found shot inside his car, but it was unclear whether he was shot before or after crashing the vehicle. Brown was later arrested and charged with aggravated murder. In August 2022, Brown was prosecuted as an adult and eventually pleaded guilty to involuntary manslaughter. He was sentenced to 12 to 16½ years in prison.
The case drew significant attention due to the young age of both the victim and the suspect. The Cincinnati Police Department's Homicide Unit continued to investigate the circumstances surrounding Walker's death, urging anyone with information to come forward.
Walker's death was a tragic loss for his family and community, who remembered him as a loving, joyful, and giving person. He was survived by his parents, siblings, and close friends. His funeral was held at New Vision United Methodist Church in Cincinnati, with many attending to pay their respects.
The case remains a poignant reminder of the devastating impact of gun violence and the importance of community and law enforcement efforts to address such issues.
