On August 25, 2022, 61-year-old African American male Gerald Loper was fatally shot while asleep in his bed at his residence on East 75th Street in Cleveland, Ohio. According to family members, multiple gunshots were fired into the home during the night, striking and killing Mr. Loper as he lay in bed. The assailants reportedly fled the scene in a black SUV.
