Keith B. Jackson, a 22-year-old male from Cleveland, OH, tragically lost his life on October 26, 2022. Jackson was shot inside a home located on East 149th Street in Cleveland's Mount Pleasant neighborhood. The incident led to a manhunt for the suspect, Devonte Finley, a 29-year-old with a history of prior convictions for theft, assault, and weapons charges.
Authorities issued an aggravated murder warrant for Finley two days after Jackson's death.
Finley was believed to have fled to Greenville, South Carolina, but was tracked down by the Northern Ohio Violent Fugitive Task Force and the Ohio State Highway Patrol. After a brief chase, Finley was apprehended near Cambridge, Ohio, and is expected to be extradited back to Cleveland to face charges.
The investigation revealed that Finley had multiple prior convictions and had even served two years in prison before being released the previous winter. He was also accused of attempted murder in 2020, although those charges were later dismissed. The swift actions of the Ohio State Highway Patrol were crucial in preventing Finley from evading justice and returning to Cleveland.
