On December 31, 2022, Allison Dinkins, a 38-year-old woman from Akron, OH, tragically lost her life due to a shooting incident at her residence on Brittain Road. The suspect, 39-year-old Christopher Mason, who was Dinkins' boyfriend at the time, was arrested and later found guilty of her murder. Mason also shot Dinkins' 5-year-old daughter, causing injuries to her face.
The incident occurred on New Year's Eve when neighbors reported gunshots being fired at the residence.
Akron police responded to the scene and found Dinkins unresponsive with apparent gunshot wounds. Her daughter was also injured and taken to Akron Children’s Hospital for treatment. Mason was identified as the suspect, and a warrant for his arrest was issued on New Year's Day.
Christopher Mason was charged with two counts of murder with gun specifications, two counts of attempted murder with gun specifications, two counts of felonious assault with gun specifications, having a weapon under disability, and endangering children with a gun specification. He was found guilty on all charges and sentenced to 31 years to life in prison.
