Tyler Duris "Yank" Frndak, a 31-year-old male, was found dead on September 26, 1981, in Randolph, North Carolina. Frndak, who was a member of the Hells Angels motorcycle gang, was discovered alongside Michael "Thunder" Finazzo, the 40-year-old president of the Charlotte Hells Angels chapter. Both men were found shot to death and stuffed in the trunk of a car.
The investigation into their deaths revealed that the killings were likely part of an ongoing feud between the Hells Angels and
another motorcycle gang, the Outlaws. This rivalry was fueled by competition over control of drug trafficking and prostitution in the Charlotte area. The police suspected that the Outlaws were responsible for the murders, as they had lost six members and associates in similar killings over the past two years.
Despite the intense investigation, no arrests were made in connection with the murders of Frndak and Finazzo. The police continued to suspect the involvement of the Outlaws, but the case remained unsolved. The deaths of Frndak and Finazzo were part of a larger pattern of violence between the two gangs, which had been linked to 15 unsolved homicides in the Carolinas since July 4, 1979.
The funerals for Frndak and Finazzo were attended by about 150 Hells Angels members from various states, who rode ahead of the hearses in a show of solidarity. The police provided an escort for the procession, which traveled from the Morgan & Son Funeral Home in Marshville, North Carolina, to the Sunset Memory Garden Cemetery in Charlotte.
