Toney Clayton Summey, a 41-year-old Deputy Sheriff from Randolph County, North Carolina, was tragically killed on April 27, 2003. Deputy Summey was attempting to serve domestic violence warrants when he was fatally shot. He and another deputy were at the suspect's home to serve a warrant for assault on a female and communicating threats.
