Patrol Officer Timothy Wayne Whittington, aged 26, was a dedicated officer with the Charlotte Police Department in North Carolina. On the morning of July 16, 1985, Officer Whittington responded to a first-degree burglary call at Tennyson Drive. The suspect had violently attacked an 82-year-old resident, stabbing him multiple times and stealing a pistol before fleeing the scene.
