On July 5, 2004, in Sunset Beach, North Carolina, 83-year-old Frances Louise Johnson Lytton, a Caucasian female, was found deceased alongside her husband, 79-year-old Charles Robert Lytton. Authorities determined that Charles Lytton fatally shot his wife before taking his own life. The incident was classified as a murder-suicide, with Charles Lytton identified as the sole perpetrator. No other suspects were involved, and no arrests were made in connection with the case.
