Torie S. Carpenter, a 22-year-old African American woman, was tragically found shot to death in her apartment in Selma, North Carolina, on March 25, 2006. Carpenter, a single mother of two young children, was discovered after a neighbor noticed one of her children wandering outside with blood on his clothing.
