On March 30, 2006, 37-year-old Connie Newton, a white female, was tragically shot to death in a residence in Lilesville, Anson County, North Carolina. The perpetrator was her husband, Doug Newton, who was 38 years old at the time. Following the incident, Doug Newton was arrested and charged with second-degree murder.
