investigation that led to the arrest of multiple suspects. Zeer Nifis Cannady, a 20-year-old male, was one of the first individuals apprehended in connection with the murder. Cannady faced charges including first-degree murder, five counts of robbery with a dangerous weapon, conspiracy to commit robbery, assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill or seriously injure, and attempted first-degree murder.
Another suspect, Markee George, a 26-year-old male, was also arrested and charged with first-degree murder, attempted first-degree murder, three counts of robbery with a dangerous weapon, assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill or inflict serious injury, conspiracy, and robbery with a dangerous weapon. George's criminal history included convictions for resisting an officer, assault on a female, and multiple cases of communicating threats.
The legal proceedings following the arrests were complex. Cannady's bail was set at $2 million, while George's bail had not been set at the time of his arrest. Both suspects were scheduled to appear in New Hanover County court to face the charges against them.
