Rakwon Smith, an 18-year-old African American male, was tragically shot and killed on August 10, 2014, in Durham, North Carolina. Smith was found in his home on the 600 block of Lee Street, near the intersection with Geer Street. He was taken to the hospital but unfortunately succumbed to his injuries a few days later. The incident shocked the local community, as Smith was known to be a promising young individual with a bright future ahead of him.
