Veronica, affectionately known as Rahni, was a loving mother of five sons and a dedicated nursing assistant. She was known for her compassionate nature and her willingness to help others. On the night of her death, Veronica was attending a gathering at a home on the 800 block of Lindsey Street when shots were fired.

Two other men, Michael Carter, 18, and Desmonte Santiago, 24, were also shot but survived their injuries. Initially, Antonio Sherod Scales, 45, was arrested and charged with voluntary manslaughter. However, new information led to the arrest of Spencer Thomas Fountain, 27, on charges of first-degree homicide and discharge of a barreled weapon inside an occupied dwelling resulting in serious injury. Fountain received a $45,000 secured bond.
