Jakeba Keshawn Henry, a 25-year-old African American male from Durham, North Carolina, tragically lost his life on December 23, 2015. The incident occurred near the intersection of Grace Lane and Liberty Street, where officers initially responded to a shooting call at 6:17 p.m. Upon arrival, they found an adult male with a gunshot wound to his leg. This victim was taken to the hospital for treatment of injuries that did not appear to be life-threatening.
Shortly after, officers discovered Jakeba Henry on Commerce Street, also suffering from gunshot wounds. He was transported to the hospital, where he later succumbed to his injuries.
The investigation revealed that Jakeba Henry and the other victim were together at the time of the shooting on Commerce Street. Durham police identified William Devoil Allen Jr. as a suspect in the case. Allen, 26, was wanted for murder in connection with the fatal shooting of Jakeba Henry. He was also facing charges of assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill and robbery with a dangerous weapon.
