David Lee Antwan Gainey, a 26-year-old African American male, tragically lost his life on February 8, 2017, in High Point, North Carolina. Gainey was found lying on the ground with multiple gunshot wounds on Henley Street near Daniel Brooks Homes. Despite efforts to save him, he succumbed to his injuries at High Point Regional UNC Health Care.
The investigation into Gainey's death led to the arrest of three individuals: Danlonta Franchez Lindsey, 26; Shacoby Demetrious Lindsey, 25; and
Shalla Fredett Lindsey, 43, all of High Point. Danlonta Lindsey was arrested on the day of the incident, while Shacoby Lindsey was apprehended the following day. Both men were charged with first-degree murder, with Shacoby Lindsey believed to be the shooter. Shalla Lindsey was charged with accessory after the fact to first-degree murder, as she was suspected of providing false information to the police to help Shacoby Lindsey avoid arrest.
The incident occurred in a public housing complex, and a three-year-old child was present with Gainey at the time of the shooting. Fortunately, the child was not harmed. The relationship between Gainey and the child remains unclear, but it is not believed that Gainey was the father. The investigation into the case is ongoing, with authorities continuing to gather information and evidence related to the tragic event.
