Jahmil Ismailibn Al-Amin, a 25-year-old African American male, tragically lost his life on March 10, 2017, in Winston-Salem, North Carolina. The incident occurred around 9:45 p.m. near Bethabara Park Boulevard and Bethabara Pointe Circle. Upon arrival, police found Al-Amin unresponsive and lying on the ground in a parking lot in front of 703 Bethabara Pointe Circle.
He had suffered multiple gunshot wounds and was pronounced dead at the scene.
The investigation into Al-Amin's death was taken over by detectives from the Criminal Investigations Division. At the time, information about the incident was limited due to the early stages of the investigation. The Winston-Salem Police Department requested anyone with information to come forward. The suspect was described as a black male between the ages of 25 and 35, who left the scene in a gray passenger vehicle.
Neighbors and friends of Al-Amin were deeply affected by his death. Queenie Cunningham, a resident living within feet of the parking lot where Al-Amin was found, described him as a nice, respectful, and happy individual. The proximity of the incident to her home was unsettling, and she expressed her intention to move due to the traumatic experience.
Al-Amin's death marked the second homicide in Winston-Salem for the year 2017. The first homicide, which occurred on the same street, involved a 36-year-old man who suffered a fatal stab wound, possibly stemming from a domestic violence relationship. The community's reaction to Al-Amin's death highlighted the ongoing concerns about violence and safety in the area.
As of now, there have been no updates on arrests, suspects, litigations, or further investigations related to Al-Amin's death. The case remains open, and the Winston-Salem Police Department continues to seek information from the public to bring justice for Jahmil Ismailibn Al-Amin.
