Rondy Samuel Shields III, a 20-year-old Black male, was tragically killed on June 25, 2017, in Asheville, North Carolina. The incident occurred at Pisgah View Apartments, a public housing complex, where surveillance cameras captured the shooting just after 12 p.m. that day. Evidence compiled during the investigation showed that Davon Tyrone Smith, who had just turned 16 at the time of the crime, discharged a .40 caliber handgun at least five times in the direction of Shields as he attempted to f ...
