Jamario Lacatria McNeely, a 23-year-old Black man, was tragically shot to death on August 10, 2017, in Charlotte, North Carolina. The incident occurred on Pleasant Dale Drive, where McNeely was found dead by officers. The shooter, George Fernandez, a 29-year-old Latino man, remained at the scene and spoke with Homicide Detectives at police headquarters. Fernandez was initially charged with murder but later convicted of voluntary manslaughter. He was sentenced to 64-89 months in prison.
