Devon Khamari Revelle, a 21-year-old Black male, tragically lost his life on June 30, 2018, in Elizabeth City, North Carolina. Devon, affectionately known as "Duke" or "Dookie," was a beloved member of his community and family. He was the son of Paulita Powers and Dexter Revelle, and he had a passion for playing the drums and supporting his favorite college team, the Duke Blue Devils.
Devon was raised in a Christian home and attended Parsons Temple Fellowship Church and Bethlehem Apostolic Faith Church of God and Christ.
On the evening of June 30, 2018, the Pasquotank County Sheriff's Office received a call around 6:45 p.m. regarding a person being shot on Esclip Road. Upon arrival, deputies found Devon Revelle in the roadway with multiple gunshot wounds. He was pronounced dead at the scene. The investigation into Devon's death began immediately, with investigators working tirelessly to identify the perpetrator.
The investigation led to the arrest of 22-year-old Dazis Davante Bonds on July 2, 2018. Bonds was charged with first-degree murder and was held without bond in Albemarle District Jail. The case did not end there, as further investigation revealed the involvement of additional suspects. On August 31, 2018, authorities arrested 22-year-old Daquan Lee Spencer and 25-year-old Donald Edward Spencer Jr., both of Elizabeth City. They were also charged in connection with Devon's murder.
The arrests of Bonds, Spencer, and Spencer Jr. marked significant developments in the case, but the investigation continued as authorities sought to uncover the full extent of the events leading to Devon's tragic death. The community of Elizabeth City mourned the loss of a young, vibrant life, and Devon's family and friends remembered him as a loving and talented individual who brought joy to those around him.
