Jamarcus Lavar Sellers, a 27-year-old African American male, was found shot to death on February 7, 2019, in a wooded area near Pinetops, North Carolina. The Edgecombe County Sheriff's Office discovered his body while investigating a tip concerning a missing person. The body was located around 10 a.m. near the intersection of Davistown-Mercer and Jenkins Farm roads.
The Rocky Mount Police Department Crime Scene Unit, the Nash County Sheriff's Office, and the Pinetops Police Department assisted in the investigation.
Following the discovery, the Edgecombe County Sheriff's Office identified LiMichael Pittman as a suspect and charged him with first-degree murder. Pittman was taken into custody and held without bond. The investigation continued as detectives followed up on additional leads. The authorities urged anyone with information about the case to contact Detective Johnson at the Edgecombe County Sheriff's Office.
