Richard William Carter Jr., a 48-year-old African American male, was tragically shot and killed on March 8, 2019, in the parking lot of the Eze-N-Quick minimart located on Tuckaseegee Road at State Street in west Charlotte, North Carolina. The Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department responded to the scene just after 11 p.m. on that fateful Friday night. Upon arrival, officers found Carter Jr. suffering from gunshot wounds, and he was pronounced dead at the scene.
