Laura Caitlyn Whitehurst, a 25-year-old woman from Greenville, NC, tragically died on May 13, 2019. The Pitt County Sheriff's Office responded to a report of shots fired on Whitehurst Lane, located northeast of Greenville off Hwy 264. Upon arrival, deputies found Laura Caitlyn Whitehurst and 26-year-old Christopher Levon Garris with gunshot wounds. Paramedics determined both victims were dead at the scene. Investigators believe that Garris shot Whitehurst and then turned the gun on himself. The ...
