Cortavious Arrington, a 21-year-old African American male, tragically lost his life on July 21, 2019, in Greenville, North Carolina. The incident occurred outside the Chicken Shack restaurant on Hooker Road. According to reports, the fatal shooting stemmed from a fight between several individuals who knew each other. During the altercation, a third person opened fire, resulting in the death of Cortavious Arrington and the injury of another individual, 22-year-old C-allah Coombs Jr., who
sustained non-life-threatening injuries.
Shortly after the shooting, a suspect was taken into custody at the City Gas on North Greene Street. However, the suspect had not been charged with a crime at that time. Detectives were reviewing the facts of the case with the Pitt County District Attorney’s Office to determine the appropriate charges. The suspect was not considered a flight risk or a danger to the public.
