Kris Audrey Bryant, a 49-year-old African American male, was found dead in his home on Bowen Blanks Drive in the Riegelwood area of Columbus County on August 13, 2019. His body was discovered by a relative who noticed that his car had not moved from the night before. Upon arrival, deputies from the Columbus County Sheriff’s Office found Bryant dead from an apparent gunshot wound. The investigation began immediately, with the authorities treating the incident as an isolated case.
Bryant had a criminal past dating back to 1989, with most offenses related to drugs. However, family members believe that he had turned his life around since getting out of prison in 2017, just about two years before his death. Despite his past, his family described him as a loving and caring individual who took care of his family. His son, Antonio Williams, expressed his grief, stating that Bryant was like Superman to him.
As of now, no one has been charged with Bryant's murder. The Columbus County Sheriff’s Office continues to seek information from the public to solve the case. The investigation remains open, and the authorities are urging anyone with information to come forward.
