Angel Tapia Salinas, a 31-year-old Hispanic male, tragically lost his life on September 26, 2019, in Winston-Salem, North Carolina. The incident occurred at approximately 9:10 p.m. on Bloomfield Drive near South Martin Luther King Junior Drive. Police responded to a call reporting a shooting and found Angel Tapia Salinas with a gunshot wound to his torso.
He was immediately transported to Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center, where he later succumbed to his injuries.
The investigation into Angel Tapia Salinas' death revealed that Andres Martinez-Vargas, a 26-year-old male from Winston-Salem, was identified as a suspect. On January 23, 2020, warrants were issued for his arrest on charges of involuntary manslaughter and storage of firearms to protect minors. Martinez-Vargas was arrested without incident and is currently being held in the Forsyth County Law Enforcement Detention Center under a $15,000.00 unsecure bond.
The case has been classified as a death investigation by the Winston-Salem Police Department. Other individuals were present at the scene when the shooting occurred and have been cooperating with law enforcement. The police have urged anyone with additional information to come forward and assist in the ongoing investigation.
