Mack Kelly Porter, a 30-year-old African American male, was tragically shot and killed on November 29, 2019, in Greensboro, North Carolina. The incident occurred around 2:10 p.m. on Immanuel Road, between Binford Street and Rowe Street. Porter was found inside a white 2003 Honda with a gunshot wound. He was immediately taken to a local hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries shortly after arrival.
Porter had recently relocated to Greensboro from Baltimore, Maryland, just a few months before his untimely death. The Greensboro Police Department launched an investigation into the shooting, which led to the arrest of two suspects. On December 9, 2019, Braxton Nelson Bridges, a 29-year-old male from Greensboro, was arrested and charged with felony first-degree murder, conspiracy, and discharging a weapon into an occupied dwelling.
Subsequently, on January 5, 2020, Guy Alexander Clark, a 29-year-old male, was arrested in Maryland and charged with first-degree murder, felony conspiracy, and felony discharging a weapon into a dwelling/vehicle. Clark was extradited back to North Carolina and is currently being held in the Guilford County Jail.
The investigation revealed that Porter was shot while sitting inside his car, and the motive behind the shooting remains unclear. Both Bridges and Clark are awaiting trial, and the Greensboro Police Department continues to seek information from the public to aid in the investigation.
